Rediscovering Meaning In Our Work
Consulting, Coaching and Education
with a focus on physician well-being
Peace comes from being able to contribute the best that we have, and all that we are, toward creating a world that supports everyone.
But it is also securing the space for others to contribute the best that they have and all that they are.
Hafsat Abiola
Research published in Mayo Clinic Proceedings found that when compared with the general U.S. population, physicians experience almost twice the emotional exhaustion and half the satisfaction with work-life balance.
In fact, more than 50% of the physicians in the U.S. are experiencing lessened well-being and diminished enthusiasm for professional work.
Studies emphasize that healthcare system demands and restraints are key contributing factors.
These include:
increased administrative and regulatory responsibilities
differing perceptions of necessary/appropriate patient care
decreased face to face time with patients and peers
lack of effective collaboration between physicians and system executives
Interestingly, studies highlight a strong correlation between physician health and well-being and engagement in meaningful professional work.
We developed Rediscovering Meaning In Our Work to provide physicians with opportunities to:
connect with peers and colleagues
explore ways to cultivate a greater sense of well-being
advocate for collaborative healthcare system change
engage in professional work that is meaningful and fulfilling
